Rocks Rocks Rocks!
We have begun a fun geology unit. Many children have brought in interesting rocks to share with the class; we have read some really cool books about rocks; and most importantly we are inspecting and investigating rocks. This week we defined the attributes of rocks and learned the vocabulary that goes along with that.

About Mrs. Shaw
This is my sixth year at Corbett Grade School. I previously taught a first and second grade blend, and came to love the practice of teaching in a multi-age classroom. This year will be very satisfying, because I will teach students that range in age from five to nine years old. I am also thrilled to have a trusted teaching partner in this new and exciting endeavor.
My true teaching passion is helping young children see themselves as writers. For me, nothing can top watching a six or seven year old see the final published piece that they’ve labored on for weeks.
When I’m not at school, I enjoy hiking, camping and entertaining friends and family with my husband, Chris and two children, Ethan and Ellie.

About Mrs. Wold
This is my 21st year teaching in Corbett. I appreciate working with colleagues who really support each other professionally and personally; and with families who are eager to partner in their children's education.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband and daughter (who attends Corbett). For fun, we like to travel and do home projects.
To keep my mind busy, I am currently working on earning a reading endorsement. Although this would qualify me to be a reading specialist, my only ambition is to do the best job I can as a classroom teacher. I am also over-burdening my mind by trying to learn Japanese, both spoken and written. It's a lot of fun for me, though very difficult.
